Officials: Shot Canadian border guard to recover

SEATTLE (AP) ? A Canadian border guard shot in her booth at a busy U.S.-Canada border crossing is expected to make a full recovery.

The Canada Border Services Agency issued the statement on Officer Lori Bowcock's condition Wednesday. Bowcock was shot in the neck Tuesday afternoon by a motorist entering Canada at the Peace Arch crossing at Blaine.

The man then shot and killed himself.

Bowcock was flown to a hospital in Canada, where she is listed in stable condition.

Officials are in the process of reopening the Peace Arch crossing's southbound lanes. Its northbound lanes are set to reopen at 8 a.m. Thursday.

Officials haven't released the shooter's name or a potential motive in the case. The investigation is ongoing.
