The American drama ?Flight? took off, taking first place on the Japan Box Office Chart for its opening weekend. ?A Good Day to Die Hard? and ?Ted? were pushed back to the second and third place, respectively.
In fifth place was the opening of Quentin Tarantino?s western ?Django Unchained?, and the fourth position was occupied by ?Les Miserables?. It?s quite an unusual sight, but there was no Japanese movie that placed in the top five this weekend. Even with the aftereffect of the Oscars, there hasn?t been an all-Western top 5 for a couple of years.
Speaking of which, the Oscars also sparked some interest for ?Best Picture? winner ?Argo? in Japan, enough to let it enter the top ten of the weekend chart again.
Don?t forget to check out the trailers of all the new Japanese movies below the box office chart!
