Job Description
The Department of Nursing at Franciscan University of Steubenville (FUS), Ohio, invites applications for a full-time tenure track position to begin August 2013. FUS is located 24 miles west of the Pittsburgh International Airport in the rolling hills of the upper Ohio valley. FUS is an academically excellent and passionately Catholic university in the Franciscan tradition where faith and reason harmoniously unite in and out of the classroom. The Department of Nursing, guided by the teachings of the Catholic Church, embraces a twofold approach where both the ministry and the profession of nursing are acknowledged, taught, and fostered in order to equip our students to respect the dignity of the human person from conception to natural death, as well as to provide nursing care for the whole person--body, mind, and spirit. Our graduates, who hail from all 50 states and many foreign nations, are also prepared for the unique cultural and ethical issues that confront health care professionals in the 21st century. The successful candidate must possess a doctorate in nursing at the time of employment; have two years' clinical experience; be eligible for tri-state registered nurse licensure; be committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service; and support the Mission of the University. The successful candidate must be familiar with concepts and criteria relative to nursing education at state and national levels. The successful candidate will teach and coordinate clinical experiences for a nursing leadership and management course at the undergraduate level; teach other nursing courses and provide clinical supervision as assigned; collaborate in curriculum/program development; and participate in student and program evaluation. Knowledge of simulation development/education is a plus.
