Best Thanksgiving apps for sports - Know Your Cell

Thanksgiving is a great time for food and family but sports is another terrific tradition on this holiday. Let's take a look at the best Thanksgiving sports apps for iPhone and Android.

NFL Mobile (Android, iPhone?*Free)

This should be the absolute best app for your Android and iPhone to keep track of the big games but there's a big caveat: You'll need to be on Verizon to get full access to things like streaming games. That can be a bummer for many of you but if you're a Verizon user, this is as good as it gets when it comes to sports. You get real-time sports, stats, news, live videos and archived clips.?

?

Yahoo! Fantasy Football '12 (Android, iPhone?*Free)

For some of you out there, the final score of the game isn't as important as who gains yards and which defense does the best job. That's right, fantasy football is a big part of watching the NFL and the Yahoo! Fantasy Football '12 app is one of the best to keep track of your team. Along with real-time stats and figures, you can make trades directly from your mobile devices with this app (if you're using a Yahoo fantasy league, of course). Even if you're not using a Yahoo fantasy league, this app is still quite handy to know what's going on with your team.

ESPN ScoreCenter (Android, iPhone?*Free)

It may not be the most inspired pick but the ESPN ScoreCenter is probably the best way to keep up with the latest scores and news from your favorite teams. It's not just for the NFL, as this app will keep you up to date on all the major sports in the United States and abroad. You can look forward to news, stats and video clips, and you can even customize it to bubble up the information about your favorite teams. It has a nice interface on iOS and Android, and you can expect push notifications for your teams of choice.?

?

Team Stream (Android, iPhone?*Free)

?

Bleacher Report has done a good job of keeping you informed but the Team Stream app takes that a step further by focusing in on your team. Want the best fan-made opinions about the Detroit Lions, the Dallas Cowboys or nearly any other squad? Well, look no further than the Team Stream app.?Once you've set up your team, you can get stories from local newspapers, Twitter, notifications and more. I've found the Team Stream apps to be very fast, particularly with real-time news.?

?

PlayUp (Android, iPhone)

Whether it's some good-natured trash talking or the "did you see that?" moment, one of the great things about watching a game is being able to talk to your friends during it. If you can't do that in person, the PlayUp app is the next best thing.?

PlayUp lets you build chat rooms around specific games and you can chat with your friends or strangers. It gives you live scores of more than 30,000 games, videos and the ability to create private groups around a game. You can always use something like?Twitter to talk about a game, but PlayUp will ensure that the conversation will be concentrated around a single game, sport or event.?

We hope you have a great Thanksgiving. We've rounded up a bunch of apps to help you through it, so feel free to check out the best Thanksgiving travel apps, apps for a stress-free Thanksgiving?and apps to help you avoid holiday weight gain.
